Connected Generations

How can we design a society where older people have a natural and essential place? ActiZ posed this question in What if Lab: Connected Generations, challenging designers to explore new perspectives. Studio Anne Ligtenberg and We Are Social Rebels developed two innovative social design concepts that strengthen communities and create a more sustainable future for elderly care.

Bingo – What do you want to be when you grow old?
Studio Anne Ligtenberg designed a card game in which players step into the shoes of an older person. This interactive game makes conversations about ageing more accessible and encourages intergenerational reciprocity.

The Neighbourhood Living Group
We Are Social Rebels introduced a flexible housing concept where different generations form a social network together. Using a menu of options, residents are inspired to create shared spaces and services in their neighbourhood, such as a community garden or repair café.
